Proficiency in Data Science

Data science is a fast-moving field and skills in this area are highly sought after by employers. The skills you will gain through the Proficiency in Data Science are directly applicable to many job roles. The pathway provides you with the opportunity to about the core competencies and application of data science and how it is transforming business and society.

This pathway is open to all students, from any discipline.

If you pass 60 credits of modules taken from approved lists, you may have the words ‘with Proficiency in Data Science’ added to your degree title when you graduate.

If you have not taken A-level Mathematics or an undergraduate statistics module, you should complete the following module prior to any other modules:

If you have not taken an undergraduate module in Python programming, you should complete the following module prior to any other modules:

Requirements

In line with section 12 of the TQA Manual , modules taken for the ‘with Proficiency in Data Science’ pathway must be taken at two different levels and must be passed. Condoned modules will not count towards qualification for the 'with Proficiency' degree title.

Students satisfying these criteria must confirm with their Faculty in advance of final awarding, that they wish for their award title to include the ‘with Proficiency in Data Science’ wording.
