Dr Yunxiao Zhang
Lecturer
Computer Science
As a lecturer in cyber security, my research focuses on multidisciplinary cyber security challenges. I am particularly interested in cyber security economics, which involves understanding and modelling the strategic decision-making between attackers and defenders, especially in scenarios with uncertainty and incomplete information. My objective is to provide defensive strategies that optimise security for organisations and individual users. At present, my research interests also lie in information flow and leakage analysis and countermeasures against AI-enabled social engineering attacks. Moreover, I have a keen interest in computer networks, performance evaluation, optimisation, game theory and machine learning.
Education
My educational background includes a BEng with First Class and the Excellence Prize from Newcastle University, an MSc with Distinction and a PhD from Imperial College London. I was supervised by Professor Erol Gelenbe at the Intelligent Systems and Networks research group.
