Dr Steven Squires

I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working in the Computer Science department at the University of Exeter. My current role is working on applying machine learning approaches to forecast healthcare surges in Kenya. 

I held two previous roles at the University of Exeter. I worked on data analysis on the UK Biobank dataset for assessing the relationship between medical and dietary exposures on dementia risk. Previously I worked on data analysis of genetic data relating to, primarily, type 1 diabetes.

Before that I worked at the University of Manchester, there I was working on using deep learning on mammograms and MRI images to produce methods to improve breast cancer risk prediction.

My PhD was at the University of Southampton where I worked on various different algorithms and applications of non-negative matrix factorisation.
