Soroush Karimi is a PhD student in Computer Science at the University of Exeter with an interest in computational social science. In his PhD, he investigates the spread of misinformation and toxicity on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. He uses simulation models and data analysis to study how network structure and individual biases affect the spread of misinformation.
Before his doctoral studies, Soroush earned a Master’s degree in the Physics of Complex Systems from Shahid Beheshti University. He worked as a data analyst, applying quantitative methods to socio-economic challenges. Most recently, he was a data analyst at a financial company, where he helped portfolio managers by creating interactive dashboards. He currently serves as a Postgraduate Teaching Associate at the University of Exeter.
