Dr. Rodrigo Wilkens is a Lecturer at the University of Exeter, specialising in Natural Language Processing (NLP), language assessment, and cognitive computational models. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Brazil, in 2016, with a focus on language performance and profiling.
Dr. Wilkens' research interests include cognitive computational models, computer-assisted language learning, knowledge extraction, question answering, information retrieval, knowledge representation, chatterbots, text classification, text simplification, word embedding, and user modelling, particularly for English, Portuguese, and French.
Throughout his career, he has worked in research groups at institutions such as the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of Strasbourg (Unistra), the University of Essex (UEssex), the University of Milano-Bicocca (Italy), and the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain).
