Dr Hailun Xie is a research fellow and environmental data scientist in the Department of Computer Science at University of Exeter. He has an interdisciplinary background in Machine Learning, Climate Risk Assessment, Offshore Renewable Energy, as well as Built Environment. His research focuses on using AI and modelling to address pressing challenges of climate change. Some of his research experiences and projects are highlighted as below.

1. Creating industry standard future weather files for climate risk assessment and climate adaptation for the built environment sector (Knowledge Transfer Partnership with CIBSE & University of Exeter)

2. Lifecycle assessment of floating offshore wind and optimization of wind farm layout (Cornwall FLOW Accelerator with University of Exeter)

3. Automated machine learning (AutoML) for data mining (PhD)
