Dr. Haozhe Wang's research focuses on the innovative integration of network slicing and Digital Twin (DT) technology within 5G networks. Network slicing represents a strategic advancement, offering customised network resources to support a diverse range of services in 5G environments. However, network slicing introduces substantial complexity in network management due to the virtualised nature of the infrastructure and the critical need for maintaining rigorous Quality-of-Service (QoS) levels. DT technology emerges as a transformative solution, facilitating a more efficient and cost-effective management strategy by generating digital replicas of the network slicing infrastructure. These replicas accurately model the network's behaviours and predict their performance over time, considering the dynamic nature of network conditions. Dr. Wang's research introduces a scalable DT model for network slicing, designed to understand the complex interactions between different network slices and continuously track the end-to-end performance metrics of these slices across various network scenarios. The overarching goal is to enhance network management and ensure that the evolving needs of emerging technologies, such as smart cities and autonomous vehicle networks, are met with high efficiency and reliability.
