Bio

I am a Lecturer in Artifical Intelligence in the Department of Computer Science, University of Exeter, and I am also a Turing Fellow at the  Alan Turing Institute. Prior to that I was a Research Associate at the Alan Turing Institute, working with Prof. Mark Birkin on the Shocks and Resilience project, where I studied how to better model the pandemic from the urban analytics perspective, and how should we cope in the post-pandemic world, e.g. balancing economy recovery with the potential rise of infection rate. I obtained both my PhD and undergraduate (1st class) degrees in the Department of Computer Science at University of Warwick.

Research interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning, artificial intelligence and spatio-temporal data mining. I am passionately committed to utilising advanced AI and data science methodologies to gain deeper insights into the intricate dynamics of urban environments. Specifically, my work focuses on unraveling the complex processes, structures, interactions, and evolution of cities. By harnessing vast amounts of data generated by urban systems, I aim to develop innovative solutions that empower decision-makers to address pressing challenges such as urban mobility, resource management, environmental sustainability, and public health. Through my research, I strive to contribute to the development of smarter, more resilient cities that enhance the quality of life for inhabitants and promote sustainable urban development on a global scale.

I am always looking for self-motivated PhD/visiting students. Please drop me an email with your CV if you are intereted in joining my reseaech group.
